Croydon Heritage Week 2017 at the Minster

A range of Events to mark Heritage Week will run from Saturday June 24th (our patronal Festival) to Friday June 30th

FIRE! Concert: 24th June 2017 at 4pm

A concert of readings and music to commemorate 150 years since fire destroyed Croydon’s church. Featuring a specially commissioned work by Organist Laureate, Martin How for reader, organ and piano entitled ‘Minster Blaze’. Free entry. Donations to Minster Funds.

Festal Evensong featuring the Choir of Men and Boys: 25th June at 6.30 pm

Enjoy a feast of music in a traditional Choral Evensong sung by the Choir of Men & Boys in celebration of St John the Baptist, patron saint of Croydon Minster whose Saint’s Day occurs on this weekend. Music by English composers: Radcliffe, Wood, & Stanford. All welcome.

FIRE! exhibition: June 26th -30th 2017 from 9.30am - 4pm daily (excl. Thurs)

Displays will feature information on the sequence of events around the fire, contemporary photographs of the destruction and artefacts saved from the flames.

River, Church, Almshouse: the history of Croydon's medieval almshouse charity - talk by Sue Turnbull & Karen Ip: 27th June 2017 at 3pm (NB this takes place in the Minster Hall)

War and Peace; An evolution - Tours of Croydon Minster led by David Morgan: Mon 26th at 11am, Tues 27th at 2pm & Fri 30th at 1pm
