Lent Courses 2019

What's on during Lent (March 6 - April 14) at The Minster, St Andrew's and St George's

Lent is a season for reflection, prayer and self-examination of our lives in the light of Christ and His call on us. To assist this process, we are offering a series of courses, reflections and spaces where all can come together.



A Journey with Jonah - Thursdays 7-7.45pm

Celebration of Compline with an address focusing on the life of Jonah, his struggles and doubt, and his call to be a prophet. Compline provides space to hear, sing and pray; and reflect on how the life of Jonah might speak to us today.


Lectio Divina – Tuesdays 11.45am – 12.45pm

The regular Lectio meeting will, throughout Lent, focus on the book of Jonah, Lectio Divina is a way of engaging personally with God’s Word by listening to a slow reading of the text and reflecting silently on it.


Stations of the Cross – Mondays 7pm (for tea/coffee) for 7.30 – 8.30pm

The Stations of the Cross use imagery from the final journey of Jesus to the cross to assist in making a spiritual pilgrimage with Him. Space to listen, reflect and pray.



A Journey with Jonah – Tuesdays 6.30-7.30pm

Celebration of the Eucharist and reflections on the on the life of Jonah, his struggles and doubt, and his call to be a prophet. Space to hear, reflect and pray.



Lent Course – Wednesdays 7.30-9pm & Thursday 10am

Using the York Course, On the Third Day, there will be an exploration of personal discipleship in light of the resurrection.
