Mothers' Union
The new Croydon Parish Church with St George Mothers’ Union was formally established in September 2006. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7.30 pm and the Afternoon Group meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1.30 pm. Both meetings take place in the Almshouses, George Street. We hold a meeting at St George’s once a term.
A Corporate Communion, Compline or Reflective evening takes place once a term. A Prayer Group has been formed which meets during term time on a Wednesday morning at one of the member’s homes, and we have a very varied programme of Speakers, social events and discussions.
On some Sundays we run a Holiday Reading Book Stall during Coffee after the Parish Communion, the proceeds of which are donated to support the Mothers’ Union. Some members have been trained by Revd Sara in Godly Play which is being used in the Sunday School.
The Mini-Movers for Under 4’s takes place on Thursday mornings in Church during term time and is very successful and well supported.
We arrange two Fund-raising events each year which includes our annual Family Fun Afternoon in September which is very popular. All the money we raise goes to help projects run by the Mothers’ Union worldwide and ‘at home’.
New members/enquirers are always very welcome – we are a friendly group. Please speak to Diana Hemmings, Branch Leader – tel. 020 8667 0575
