We are thrilled to share that the Cathedral Music Trust has made a remarkable investment of £470,000 this year to support the music departments of 27 cathedrals and churches across the UK — and the Minster is one of them.

We are grateful to have been awarded a generous £15,000 grant to support the vital work of our four section leaders. These talented professionals sing alongside our dedicated volunteers and serve as inspiring role models for our choristers and choral scholars.

This funding, which will support us over the next two years, comes at a crucial time — helping to sustain our programme as we navigate the closure of Old Palace School. It ensures that the high standard of music-making at the Minster continues to flourish.

This is the second time we’ve received a grant from the Trust in recent years, and we are proud to be among a select few parish churches recognised in this way. It’s a powerful endorsement of the ethos, excellence, and national profile of our music department.

We are deeply grateful to the Cathedral Music Trust for their belief in our mission and for helping us continue to nurture the next generation of musicians.

We look forward to welcoming the Trust’s CEO Jonathan Mayes on Thursday 2nd October as he passes through Croydon on his cycling pilgrimage. We’ll also be celebrating the award at Choral Evensong on Sunday 16 November.
