Safe Church

Safeguarding

This parish – Croydon Minster and St George’s, Waddon – takes the safeguarding of everyone, especially the care of children, with utmost seriousness. We also are very mindful of the experience of survivors of clerical and other church abuse. We take any reports of abuse seriously; those making allegations will be heard and listened to.

On 6th October 2020 the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) published its overarching investigation report into the Church of England (and Church in Wales). The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have written about this. Their letter can be found on the Church of England website at: https://www.churchofengland.org/safeguarding/overview/news-and-views/iicsa-reportopen-letter

The PCC has adopted the Diocese of Southwark’s Safeguarding Policy ‘A Safe Church’ and reviews this regularly. This policy can be found at https://southwark.anglican.org/safeguarding/diocesan-policies-and-procedures .  Risk assessments and procedures for Safeguarding are in place in each church. Safeguarding concerns can be reported to the Priest in Charge or Parish Safeguarding Officer.
